Team Information

Coach - Scotty Bew
VP/Match Sec - Johnny Madden

Team Colors - Red and black jerseys, black shorts, and one red sock with one black sock.

Team History - The Misfits were formed in the early 80s when Camp Lejeune combined with New River Air Station to form one single team. The name Misfits comes from the result of combining the two teams and is reflected in the wearing of two different color socks. The sock tradition is a result of the rule that states that a team must wear matching uniforms. When the two teams merged, both teams wore black shorts but one team wore red socks and one wore black. At their first match as a combined team there were not enough black or red socks to out fit an entire team. The solution was players with black socks to trade one sock with a player with a red sock. Although the socks did not match on an individual player they did match as a team.

Championships - The Misfits have been the Military National Champions 3 times - 1990, 1991, and 1995. In 2002 the Misfits lost in the Championship match to Camp Pendleton (the only time two Marine teams have fought for the title) The Misfits have also placed second in the North Carolina Union Championships on a few occasions and as recently as 2001 but have never won the title.
